Therapist in Potomac, MD
With Bradford Wolf, LCSW
I see clients in person at my office in Rockville, which is right next door to Potomac, and online anywhere in Maryland or Virginia. A lot of my Potomac clients do a bit of both.
I’m a licensed clinical social worker, and I work with individuals and couples.
Below, I’ll cover getting here, what people from Potomac often come in with, what I work with, and when someone closer might be a better fit.
Getting here from Potomac
My office is at 27 Wood Lane in Rockville. Potomac runs right up to Rockville, so you’re not crossing the county to get here.
Even so, a lot of my Potomac clients meet online. You probably drive to just about everything already, and one less trip each week can make it easier to keep going. Online sessions are the same length and the same work. Online therapy in Maryland explains how they work.
If you’d rather come in, the office is close by.
If you’re not sure which would work better, that’s a good thing to talk through on the free fifteen-minute consultation call.
What Potomac tends to bring into the room
A lot of Potomac is semi-rural, and that shapes the week in a couple of ways.
A week spent mostly in the car. School, work, errands, and everything in between, and maybe part of the week across the river in Virginia. When most of your time goes to getting from one place to the next, it’s easy to run out of room for anything that’s just for you.
Wanting a little distance from home. Some people would rather their therapist not be in their own town. You’re less likely to run into a neighbor in the waiting room, and it can be easier to talk when the office isn’t on your usual route. Rockville is close enough to be easy and far enough to feel separate. Online is more private still.
What I work with
Individual therapy for anxiety, depression, stress and burnout, anger, trauma, addiction, and compulsive behavior. Each one has its own page that explains what the work looks like.
Couples therapy for relationships. I’m trained at Levels 1 and 2 in the Gottman Method, and that page walks through how the first sessions go and what they cost.
That’s the whole list. If what you’re dealing with isn’t on it, just ask on the consultation call. I’ll tell you honestly whether I’m the right fit, and if I’m not, I’ll help you find someone who is.
When someone closer is the better answer
Rockville is right next door, so for most people in Potomac, distance isn’t the issue. There are still two situations where I’m probably not your best option.
If you need sessions while you’re in DC, I can’t do that. I’m licensed in Maryland and Virginia, not DC, and what counts is where you are during the session. It doesn’t come up often for people in Potomac, but it does come up.
If seeing someone in Potomac itself matters to you, a therapist with an office there may suit you better. Going regularly matters more than who you see, so pick the option you’ll actually stick with.
Common questions
-
No. My office is in Rockville, at 27 Wood Lane. Clients from Potomac either come to the office or meet with me online, and a lot of people switch between the two depending on the week.
-
Yes. I’m licensed in Virginia as well as Maryland, so a session from your office in Virginia is fine. I don’t have an office in Virginia, so those sessions happen online. Online therapy in Virginia covers how that works.
-
Then sessions from your office there won’t work, because I’m not licensed in DC. From home in Potomac, or anywhere in Maryland or Virginia, we’re fine.
-
I’m out of network. The fees and FAQs page covers what sessions cost, how reimbursement works, and what to ask your insurance company.
